Abstract

This study aims to portray the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) as an exemplary hero figure in Klabund's expressionist novel "Mohammed" - novel of a prophet that reflects the poet's views, thoughts, and experiences about Islam. He is considered one of his most important novels, the importance of which is attributed to the choice of a great character such as that of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) after being disappointed by other characters in his novels. He hoped these ideals of justice, freedom, spirit, good could be more precisely determined in his next novel "Mohammed". Through this novel, Klabund's goal was obviously to highlight a personality like Mohammed who could replace the old with the new and change the world filled with wars with the peaceful new world. Mohammed was not interested in Klabund as the founder of a religion. For Klabund, Mohammed is the person who realizes the unity of mind and deed against all odds. Therefore, Mohammed becomes a role model, which is particularly productive for the writer in the expressionist understanding of poets. Mohammed's personality had to be able to express the poet's ideas and aspirations.
