Abstract

The translation of theatrical texts is one of the major challenges faced by the translator because of the many imposed restrictions. All the sounds and movements that are performed on the stage must be transmitted to the reader through the translated text to live it as if he is watching it alive. While the playwright is keen to convince and influence the viewers through words, movements, physical expressions, and external effects.
Therefore, this study will focus on investigating the obstacles involved in translating theatrical discourse by addressing the difficulties that the translator faces when translating emotions, overtones, and sounds in theatrical texts and proposing the appropriate solutions to them. From this study, it can be concluded that the translation of theatrical texts depends on the interpretive aspect to convey the message to the target reader.
