Translation has played a vital role at all levels, but it occupies a special place as it is considered a tool to learn a foreign language. This article aims to highlight the role of translation since it is not only a tool for transmitting the Other and his culture but also a tool for rendering the mother tongue into a foreign language to learn it. Several questions appear about the effectiveness of translation in this field. Is it preferable to learn a foreign language through the translation of the mother tongue or through books of foreign origin? What are the problems faced by translators and receivers of these texts? In order to answer these questions, we studied a textbook in Arabic translated into French as a model, and we concluded the research with suggestions, aiming at developing the educational process in the context of learning a foreign language.
