Abstract

This thesis aims to analyze the linguistic and stylistic difficulties and the translation procedures used in two Arabic translations of Italo Calvino's novel Le Città Invisible. The analysis of this thesis aims at verifying the ability of the two translations to respect the plurality of the source text and to evaluate the accuracy of the target language (Arabic), by adopting the analytical approach. It demonstrates that the linguistic and stylistic studies form a complete whole, due to the fact that everything is due to a series of choices made by the writer who controls the lexicon, the syntax. The figurative language is used to serve, in this case, the descriptive text. Calvino's style is mainly characterized by the use of various lexicons, for the greater richness of description, in addition to the use of tropes to highlight the message and to define the desired image clearly.
