The objective of this paper is to provide an analytical proposal of a poetic translation from Arabic into Italian. The work was carried out on the book “Qārib yla Lisbos” (A boat for Lesbos) by the Arab poet Nouri AJ-Jarrah. This poem, which represents a different cultural world, was chosen with the aim of establishing to what extent the Italian version is "faithful" to the prototext. During the analytical procedure, the translation work is commented on, analyzing the lexical, morphosyntactic and stylistic problems encountered in the Italian version, going to see how they were solved and how they presented themselves to the Italian reader. On the lexical level, we have: hyperonyms and hyponyms; use terms with hyperbolic value; compound words as equivalent to simple words; On the morpho-synactic level, we have examined problems related to the number and gender of nouns acting as subjects or complements. Finally, we studied the characteristic features of the style, indicating how figurative language is transferred into Italian, such as rhetorical question and repetition.
