Abstract

The verb-object structure is a commonly used structure in Chinese and Arabic. The regular collocation of the verb-object structure is that the transitive verb is followed by “the action recipient” element as the object, but Chinese is different, and it has several irregular objects. This paper is based on the argument structure theory to explore the syntactic manifestations of irregular objects (including location object, target object, instrument object, material object, and manner object) in Chinese, and further study their corresponding forms in Arabic. The aim is to let the Arab Chinese learners have a deep understanding of irregular object forms in Chinese, and to provide some corresponding forms in Arabic that are suitable for this phenomenon, so as to provide a reference for Chinese-Arabic translation.
