Abstract

The article intends to determine the axiological characteristics of the linguacultural personality type "dervish", and to explore the cultural information about the value assigned to dervish by representatives of the Arabic and Russian linguistic cultures. Aphorisms and illustrative examples from fiction, movies, journalism, and travelers' notes actualizing the named features are used. The specificity of the perception of the current personality type in the linguistic consciousness of both linguacultural communities has been established. The axiological interpretation of this linguacultural concept is presented. Evaluative characteristics assigned to the dervish are revealed.
It was found that the linguacultural type "dervish" appears in the Russian collective consciousness as an exotic and more abstract concept of foreign culture, rather than in the minds of modern Arabs, where dervish is perceived as a realistic and dynamic linguacultural type, close to daily life personality with a contradictory individual value system and an ambivalent assessment of the culture.
