Abstract

he language of traffic signs is a new concept in semiotics, it has received attention from researchers. Traffic signs are symbols with a semiotic meaning that sometimes combine image and text. They are placed on the road to provide warning instructions through images, linguistic signs, shapes, and colors, which in turn help road users understand the meaning.
The language of traffic signs is divided into many types, we will discuss the following four main types: warning, prohibition, Indicative, and directional signs. Traffic signs rely on several colors and geometric shapes, each shape and color designated to express a specific type. For example, warning signs come in the form of a triangle with a yellow base.
This study aims to identify the types of traffic signs from a semiotics perspective. The Chinese driver’s license network is a specialized website that provides information about driving.
