Abstract

Heritage played a key role in building the contemporary poem, which highlights Time with all of its contradictions, which appeared through invoking heritage and its impact in building the poem, and this was obvious in characters, events, and cultural heritage. Invoking Heritage in contemporary Arabic poetry has a special psychological and emotional impact on the recipient, which makes the recipient react positively to the poem. So, we can say that heritage is not just a way of transferring experiences and knowledge, it is also a confession to oneself that one’s historical and psychological experience are crucial. In addition, heritage also enabled the poet to highlight his society’s civilized background, and the renewed readiness of his nation to transcend itself continuously. Thus, the poet Ahmed Taymour was able to resort to heritage as in his poem Balady Yohasoroh El Tatar [My Country is Besieged by the Tartars].
